A brilliant programme of issues including missing children in South America, identity and visual impairment in the USA, and religious life in Northern England. From Italian cinema obsessions and ancient architecture to Scandinavian witch hunts and choirs, these documentaries reveal truth in all its striking forms.
IT’S EASIER TO DREAM OF HER ALIVE

The Peruvian Amazon is the all-encompassing monster that swallowed Melissa, who disappeared without a trace while playing on her doorstep. The fragments of lives she might have lived haunt her loving parents, who are left to deal with the loneliness of her absence.
DIARIES FROM A MOVIEGOER

Can cinema serve as refuge or therapy? In this semi-silent short film, shot on Super 8 film, the director confides in his best friend, revealing the reasons for his progressive isolation and the ghosts he had to face. Using experimental images made on film, he recounts a painful part of his past and how cinema helped him overcome it.

This film recounts the life of Sister Teresa Brittain, a nun in the Notre Dame de Sion congregation. Accompanied by archival images, Teresa recounts the transitions she and her fellow Sisters went through in order to liberate themselves from the institutional control of the Catholic Church and reclaim their faith identities as a collective of women.

A new skyscraper stands out against the sky amidst massive, mirrored buildings and vertical forests, symbols of Milan’s new skyline. Alone, one man bravely scales the building, defying the concrete and glass bastions of new world finance. His act of civil disobedience at 500 feet in the sky makes people look up for a few hours and reflect on the meaning of the expression “stay human.”
