Please note if you are a GOLD member of FilmFreeway you get a further discount of 15% across all submissions categories. We encourage Iranian Filmmakers to submit their films for free to our Iranian short film section as we recognise the unjust hardship imposed on Iran by Western Governments and we really wish to promote the work of Iranian Filmmakers, some of the best most powerful short films out there.
All short films should have been completed since January 2018 and be no longer than 20 mins duration (accept documentaries which can be up to 25 mins including credits). PLEASE NOTE FILMS SHOULD NOT BE ONLINE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. ANY FILMS THAT ARE SEEN TO BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN WILL FACE DISQUALIFICATION WiTHOUT REFUND. Submissions are currently open on FilmFreeway only.
*SPECIAL ALUMNI OFFER open to all Kino Alumni filmmakers that have previously screened at Kinoflim. This year we have a category specifically for filmmakers that have screened with us before and we offer a 30% discount to submit to this category on FilmFreeway only.
Remember we have regular discounted fees for Greater Manchester Filmmakers, Students and youths (17 and under). Just submit to the relevant category to get those discounts and please provide evidence of your eligibility.
***Waiver code only for Iranian filmmakers based only in Iran. We realise the difficulties Iranian filmmakers experience by Western imposed sanctions on their country. We also recognise the importance of new stories coming out of Iran and the new work by the country’s talented young filmmakers. Therefor we offer free entry to Iranian Filmmakers. All you have to do is send us proof of residence and photo ID in advance to get the free waiver code. Please read the section in submissions on FilmFreeway for more details of what you need to send us on FilmFreeway.
For our Features section, 1st and 2nd features being made by Kino Alumnis that have moved on to producing features, We would like to screen a couple of features this year to show the progression of filmmakers from shorts to features. Similarly to above you must provide evidence in your application that you have previously had a short shown at Kinofilm Festival.
We have a special youth section dedicated to young people aged 17 years and under; and a separate new section for short films made on mobile phones, primarily aimed at youths but also open to anyone (please stage age when applying so we can be sure to put you forward to the right section). Please note reduced fee for both Youth and Mobile phone sections – submit from just $10 until 14th April.
Please note submissions close on the 31st July though there is a short extension on this for two weeks for those finishing of productions (this by arrangement only). There will be no further extensions after this date.
PLEASE NOTE THE FINAL EXTENDED SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE IS 31st JULY (and the special permissions deadline is 14th August).
