Announcing 20th Edition KINOFILM Manchester Short Film Festival – Poster & Graphics competition.
KINOFILM is inviting entries for a poster & graphics design competition for the 20th edition of the festival which will take place in May 2025.
Have your design take over the 20th edition of KINOFILM Manchester Short Film Festival aesthetics, which will be used throughout our 2025 campaign – in print, on our web site, on the festival trailer and across our social media channels..
Kinofilm is the longest running Short Film Festival in the North West held annually in Manchester since 1995. In addition, our seasons of KINO SHORTS continue throughout the year. In 2025 we’ll be celebrating our 30th anniversary since our inception and the 20th edition of KINOFILM Manchester Short Film Festival.
We’re inviting emerging talented new designers and graphic design students to get involved, participating in a special competition to design the poster and graphics for our 20th edition film festival. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase your talent to a wider audience of creatives, film production companies and directors, film audiences and poster lovers from across the UK and Europe. The winning poster will be featured in our marketing campaigns, web site, social media channels and will be printed and displayed in venues across the city and beyond.
The criteria: the poster medium can be graphic led, photoshop or illustration (though note the Festival is a big fan of illustration), and will be in full colour. The design should primarily be produced in portrait but the winner should be able to present an adapted landscape version so we can present it in various forms of media.
The design should illustrate the location of Manchester, include a filmic element and clearly celebrate the festival’s 20th Anniversary year. For example, the poster could reflect the city’s developing new skyline, a mix of old and new architecture or/and an iconic Manchester landmark, or be completely abstract – the choice is yours, but it must include a filmic element that clearly defines it as a film festival poster. Check out some of our previous posters below and we strongly suggest searching google “film festival posters” images for inspiring ideas.
We will provide you with the full criteria and wording that also has to be on the poster which will include the festival name and edition, date, location, venue details and sponsor logos etc .Please complete the web site form below to register participation in the competition. Click here
Prizes: the winner will receive a festival 20th anniversary trophy for their winning contribution and both the winner and the runner-up will each receive a pair of festival passes for the duration of the festival. The winning poster will be printed and featured in all publicity in print, on the festival trailer and on all our social media channels.
All entries will be featured in a special feature on the Kinofilm website shared across our social media channels and will feature in press releases etc.
Only digital submissions will be accepted.
Submission deadline 28th February 2025
The winner will be announced on Monday 10th March.
